Okaloa Flowlab. Scaled Agile Thinking Workshop

Okaloa Flowlab is a new, experiential, way of teaching and coaching 21st century business agility that involves the entire organization. Rather than teaching a specific agile or lean method, it allows participants to explore the foundations of flow, self-organization and active learning that together form the corner stones of an agile business.

Then this Okaloa Flowlab simulation workshop is intended for you!

From the top down, Okaloa Flowlab instils new ways of thinking not just doing. From the bottom up, this new mindset inspires action not just talk. Specifically, Okaloa Flowlab allows participants to experience a new way of thinking that is sticky or even contagious as it spreads across a network of agile practitioners and ultimately building bridges between all levels and functions across the entire organization.
Join us for one day of interactive learning as you experiment with Okaloa Flowlab simulations to experience flow, collaboration and active learning, gaining deeper insights into what agility means for your organization. You will learn effective techniques to mobilize teams at all levels and across all functions. By setting aside any dogmatic discussions, it builds a common, deeper, understanding between practitioners of different lean and agile methods leading to change that is lasting and an approach that is congruent with 21st century business agility.

The workshop is intended for everybody who is interested in improving their work. By focusing on “how work works”, the Okaloa Flowlab simulations are accessible for IT, as well as non-IT people. People of all functions and all levels (including c-level) in the organization have participated in Okaloa Flowlab workshops with a high level of engagement and learning, changing the way they think about and manage their work.
Agile practitioners that already have a background in Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS, Lean start-up, Sociocracy, Holacracy, or other can all benefit from this new type of thinking as a way to take a next step in their journey towards business agility.

Research has shown that people learn the most through experience, not by overloading the rational brain with mind-boggling theories and practices of agile methods. Our motto is learning by experiencing. During this 1-day Okaloa Flowlab workshop, participants will simulate different business scenarios to practice how to organize work and by doing, so get a deeper understanding of the foundations of business agility (i.e. flow thinking, collaboration & self-organization and active learning) and how they relate to each other.

AGENDA: AGILE THINKING

  •  Explore core elements of agility thinking
     Simulate working of “agile-but” team (doing agile)
     Share observations, and learn how to analyze the finding (root cause analysis, causal loops leading to improvements of the system)
     Learn to use integrative thinking to resolve the perceived conflict between agility and predictability, flow- and resource-efficiency, commitment and engagement
     Simulate a “being” agile environment (flow efficiency, explicit collaboration policies, effective knowledge sharing)
     Closure: reflection on putting what has been experienced into practice

Patrick Steyaert is founder of Okaloa. Patrick teaches, coaches and speaks about 21st century business agility and setting in motion a new type of change that is more resilient to setbacks. Patrick is the co-creator of Okaloa Flowlab business simulations teaching the foundations of flow, self-organization and active learning as the corner stones of agile business. He is the Brickell Key Award Winner 2015 for outstanding contribution to the Kanban community with Discovery Kanban and is an LKU Accredited Kanban Trainer and Kanban Coaching Professional. He is a regular speaker at international conferences.
